2014 FIAT 500L Aces IIHS Safety Tests

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has some strict testing guidelines in order to evaluate the safety features of new vehicles.

And, when we at FIAT of Birmingham say these guidelines are strict, we're not joking, as the IIHS tests consist of side impact, front moderate overlap impact, roof-crushing and more. And, to earn the badge of safety i.e. a Top Safety Pick, by the IIHS, a car must score well within each test.

Well, for the 2014 model year, a new FIAT vehicle has passed these tests, swimmingly. Getting more specific, the FIAT 500L has been deemed to be a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS based on performance and the ability to score a 'good' rating on all the safety tests it performed.

"The all-new 2014 Fiat 500L blends Italian style, a loft-like interior, great value and advanced safety features such as reactive head restraints and seven standard air bags, making it a unique proposition in the marketplace," says Jason Stoicevich, head of Fiat Brand for North America and Chrysler Group LLC.

Besides these features that Mr. Stoicevich talked about, the FIAT 500L also provides three-point seatbelts, sophisticated crumple zones for the ultimate protection, side guard door beams, seat belt pretensioners an energy management system and more.
