FIAT investing $12.4 billion into European operations

With some of the largest car shows of the year coming up there is no doubt in our minds here at FIAT of Birmingham that FIAT has something great up their sleeves. And now that we've caught word of their upcoming investment in our lineup, we can only imagine what the future holds.

Just yesterday, the brass at FIAT let us know that they will be investing about $12.4 billion to their operations in Europe.

As for how that money will be spent, it looks like they'll continue focusing their efforts on the FIAT 500. Not only that, but the FIAT Panda ought to be getting some attention with some new models in the future and an increase in production. While the Panda models will likely be exclusive to our friends across the pond, we do have the upcoming 500 models to look forward to here in the States.

In an attempts to boost the Italian economy, a large portion of the investment will be used to create FIAT assembly plants in Italy. If all goes according to plan, it should do wonders to both create new factory jobs and preserve the ones already in place.

It goes without saying, there's a lot of exciting things in the works for FIAT. Until then, feel free to tide yourself over with a good old-fashioned test drive in one of the many fabulous FIAT models at our dealership here in Birmingham. Fair warning: the excitement is contagious.
